In December 2005, Steve Addison, Paul Addison and Ian Matson took on all 97 miles of the Cheshire Ring in freezing conditions. Our boat regularly played the role of 'Ice Breaker' as parts of the canals were completely frozen over. This was the year Ian fell off the boat, straight through the ice, complete with mobile phone, camera and wallet in his pockets! Ahhh... we can look back and laugh now. It was also the year of the bottle of Latvian poison which Ian smuggled onto the boat. This stuff nearly broke the toilet next morning! Our boat broke down at one point meaning we had to stay in a pub all day. Fortunately there was a Gluhwein machine in the bar!
